Frequently asked
How do hard caps work?
Ingest stops when you reach your cap — you are never billed for records you did not expect. The free tier stops at its allowance; paid plans stop at 2x their included records by default, and you can raise the cap up to 3x from your account. No surprise bills: the server enforces the cap, not a dashboard setting.
What is a record?
A record is one span, one log record, or one metric data point — the same unit the rate limiter and the meter count. It is not billed per gigabyte.
Do you charge per seat?
No. Seats punish exactly the behavior we want (agents and humans querying the same data), so simpletel never charges per seat.
Refunds and cancellation
Refunds: 14 days, on request, no questions — email support@simpletel.dev. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
What happens when I downgrade?
Downgrading re-applies the lower plan's retention. Nothing is deleted at the moment of the change — older data simply ages out through the normal retention window.
